INFLAMMATION: A silent culprit
When you think of inflammation, you may think "oh I tweaked my ankle and it's swollen," or "this pimple is so red and puffy." These are acute inflammations necessary for the body to heal, but what about this chronic inflammation that is buzzing around the health world these days? Well if you know anything, if it's your health and chronic is associated with it, we may have a problem.
They are saying that chronic inflammation could be the cause of many modern diseases and ailments that we suffer from today, like obesity and heart disease.
Signs of Chronic Inflammation:
-"Spare tire" around your waist
- gas, bloating, constipation
- tired all day
- skin problems (eczema, psoriasis)
- depression, anxiety
So how do we combat this response? There are always the usual suggestions, exercise regularly, cut out processed sugars & carbs, sleep enough, meditate, get bodywork, destress.
For me, lowering my stress levels was the first step in the right direction. The moment I started to actively concentrate on how to be less stressed, the other things just started to fall into place. The less anxiety I had about everything in my life, the less I craved the sweets and treats I use to lean on for support. The more proactive I became about lowering my stress, the more I felt required to support my new lifestyle with exercise. The more added in physical activites, the better I slept. Domino effect.
Whatever it is that takes you from the constant fight or flight to a little more rest and digest, do it. EVERYDAY. Make a dedication to nuture yourself and watch the rest fall into place. You deserve to live a healthy, pain free life.
