BODYWORK: Luxury or Necessity?
"DEFINITELY A NECESSITY!!"
As a bodyworker, I feel compelled to say that this kind of work is needed for functioning physically, emotionally and mentally, but as a human trying to survive on the stage of everyday living, I can also see this as a luxury only a few can afford regularly. For my personal business, I have strived to make what I offer available and in reach for all walks of life, but to also make sure I am able to support myself. This is a very delicate balance that I still to this day haven't quite figured out.
I don't know about you guys, but to me we live in a nonstop, high-functioning world these days. We feel the need to be connected constantly, yet most times we aren't connected to our own selves. So how do we change our perception and see our wellbeing as worthy of the all mighty dollar that we all so desperately chase and grasp on to? First, we need to learn how to give ourselves permission to take pause and choose for the benefit of self. By taking this hour or so to allow another human to nurture and care for you and to stop and check in with your 'self', your being, you are giving your body permission to pause and your mind to quiet. Your body and your mind will recognize the efforts you make to soothe and calm them and in return they will become more emotionally/mentally/physically resilient and stronger in ways that continue to carry you through the next days, months and years as a more honest, authentic you.
Physically, the benefits of bodywork can be endless. I could talk about your muscles, tendons and skeletal structure, but I'd like to touch base on the mind/body connection you start to develop with bodywork. Every time you lay on that table, you are giving your body a chance to heal it's self. The more you are able to check in with your 'self' on this physical level, the more that body awareness will seep into your daily life. It is that body awareness that is the key to your healing. As a massage therapist, I can walk with you on your healing journey providing different tools that help seek what you need to release these old or new ailments, but it's YOUR participation during and outside our sessions that will guide you to that comfortable place you crave. I have witnessed many clients begin to adjust tiny habits and behaviors that no longer serve their wellbeing all on their own, over the time we have worked together. These little changes have brought drastic transformations to how they feel physically, which in turn, has positively affected their mental wellbeing and they have themselves to thank for that! You have what it takes to live a full, vibrant life and receiving bodywork can support you while you get there!
Without out moaning on and on about how amazing your life could be, I will leave you with just a quote:
"To keep the body in good health is a duty...Otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear." - Buddha
